Through the Turner Community Youth Development Initiative (TCYDI), a program managed by the Turner Foundation, Vermejo Park Ranch in northern New Mexico extended a grant to New Mexico State University to help fund its Youth Ranch Management Camp this past summer. The camp is a week-long program that educates youth on the beef production industry and national resource management.
Individuals ages 15 to 19-years-old are introduced to the new concepts and ideas, advanced technologies and applied skills utilized by those in the beef cattle industry. The goal of the camp is to educate youth, and in turn, continue to keep the New Mexico ranching heritalize alive and ultimately contribute to the state’s sustainability.
