The station, which is located in New Jersey, is owned by the Canadian pipeline company Enbridge Energy which sponsored the project.
Merit is owned in part by Turner Renewable Energy, a private company owned by CNN founder Ted Turner.
Turner Renewable Energy manages the business interests, land holdings and investments of Turner, including oversight of 2 million acres in 12 states and Argentina.
